Responsibilities:

  • Administrator will be responsive, proactive and embrace any changes during this new project. Must demonstrate
  • initiative and expand their comfort zone. Must realize that the position will be ever evolving. Cogent Communications operates one of the largest fiber-optic networks solely built for internet traffic
  • Result-oriented and detail-oriented individual with a proven track record of creating and implementing process improvement initiatives
  • Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with utility (energy, water, waste) companies
  • Must become efficient in communicating, documenting and ultimately overcoming challenges in acquiring and maintaining data from utility companies
  • Initially will be required to transition Sprint Wireline Utilities from T-Mobile to Cogent. This will require establishing Cogent as the responsible party for maintenance of approximately one thousand accounts and over four hundred utility vendors
  • Ongoing, the Administrator will be responsible for all crucial utility functions
  • Administrator will be responsible for management of all services provided by utility companies
  • Establishing and updating payee accounts for all utility vendors
  • Receiving, entering relevant data and processing invoices for payment
  • Responsible for organization of all invoices received
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining websites/portals
  • Must complete each task as flawlessly as possible, documenting account numbers, invoice numbers, meter numbers, read dates, consumption and invoice amounts
  • Administrator will learn to negotiate power agreements for services in deregulated states
  • Must use due diligence in monitoring critical dates to avoid and quickly address possible adverse impacts
  • Administrator will build strong relationships with Finance, IT and Field Engineering
  • Prepare and submit weekly pay schedules
  • Respect deadlines and procedures
  • Collaborate and learn
  • Play a pivotal role in the development and management of a database for invoice management and payment schedules

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Strong Organizational Skills
  • Strong Problem-Solving Skills
  • Strong communication Skills both verbally and in writing
  • Quick to learn and able to adapt evolving business model and culture
  • Excel proficiency is essential. Must be able to manage spreadsheets and organize and analyze data
  • Microsoft Dynamics GP accounting software for financial management is preferred
  • Familiarity with Kwiktag system appreciated but not essential
